My friend's boyfriend gave me a bottle of Rose wine to have before the party on Friday. It was so nice of him. I was kind of shy to have friends and Ryu together but it was nice. The party was okay... My friends left early and I stayed with him for a while longer. It was nice to be in the loud music and I danced a bit. Cops came into the house with their flashlights and the partiers didn't falter. I lost my watch somehow and we went home. It was freezing cold and icy, I was so glad to be with him for the walk back!
I wouldn't mind staying in with him forever. No need to go out at all... He slept with me until morning, and before he left, let me pick from three Japanese folding hand fans (he had purchased them for his host family but was too shy to present them when he first arrived in America). I took two. They're so pretty and smell nice... I really like fans and have a growing collection!
I slept a while longer Saturday morning and then found out there was second party that night. My friend J kept on messaging me and acting unhappy, so I pleased her and invited her to my house. We passed the afternoon talking with tea and then went out for dinner, then made sugar cookies in various shapes, and finally joined up with Haroon to go to a huge party not far from here.
It was packed when we got there. It was crowded all through the night. It was ridiculous, I heard it was a triple birthday. Dj was good. We found a bottle of Everclear and took some shots. J drank a bunch of straight vodka. I didn't allow myself to get drunk, I had no desire. I wished Ryu were with me. But I enjoyed my time with my friends, we danced in the crowd, though we could hardly move. The police showed up and we left the scene. J and Haroon came back to my house, I showered and slept around 3AM and let them chat all night.
Two weeks left. I want to call Ryu and ask to see him today, but I can't.
Edit: He just called me... :)
Today I met up with Musaad, my Saudi conversation partner and we talked for a long time about his sudden marriage and family problems in Arabic. I love speaking Arabic. I am better than I thought I was, I just haven't spoken it regularly for almost 3 years. Now that I am taking the class though, I feel more in Arabic mode, and the words roll off my tongue.
It was raining. I met up with Ryu and we went to play piano together. It was so wonderful, quite romantic, sitting at the piano together and practicing. He is way better than I am, but he patiently walked me through Ode to Joy today, it took me about 90 minutes to get both hands down. I am getting better at reading the music. The songs are really simple, but important things to learn right now are hand positions, timing, notes. I am just really anxious about getting passed the basics and playing my favorite songs. Ryu says I am a good student and it was sort of exciting to go home with my piano teacher for the night.
My friend Lisa emailed me today. She is studying in Lyon and just spent the weekend in Paris with a Japanese guy she met this summer when she was visiting me in Tokyo. Apparently they stayed in and had hot sex all weekend. She is totally dicknotised and I am happy for her.
Tomorrow's Monday... here we go again.
Back from the underworld.
Ryu came over around 19:00 and I did his makeup, painting a whiter face and eyeliner under his eyes to make him look like L. The makeup helped make a really good effect! I wore a black corset top that restricted my breathing and smushed my boobs together in a weird shape. I thought about being a school girl, but I wanted to be a little bit scarier, so I went with more black and chains. Ryu had no complaints. We took a few shots of vodka at a friend's house in the neighborhood with Kensuke and Tetsuya, then went to the party later at night.
I don't really like going to house parties (well, the few I have been to have been uninteresting) but I guess it has more to do with the people there rather than the setting and beer. Last night I went to the Halloween party of a bunch of (mostly Japanese and other Asian) International students. There were a lot of people I knew and many I didn't. When we showed up, the beer was gone so we were left with bottles of tequila, vodka, rum, and a bunch of mixers.
Of course we took more shots like the smart, efficient people we are... I lost count, all I know today is that it was too many.
The party was cool though, the house was packed, everyone was dressed up and beautiful. Lots of cute guys and girls. I didn't bring my camera, but Ryu did. I tried to play cupid for my friends Kensuke and Kei... they are perfect for each other I think, both 19 and petite and adorable. I pushed them into a bathroom together and I don't know how it went. At one point, people were cheering for Ryu and me to kiss and we did. All I remember is a million camera flashes going off (freakin' Japanese, always taking pictures) and then shouts of mo ikkai, チューして!kiss again~!!. Like I said, I haven't seen any of these pictures, I didn't have my camera!
I'm glad Ryu decided to leave when he did, it's always better to leave early. He told me let's go and his reason was simple, if we stay longer, we will drink more. So logical! Why don't I ever think of that? On the way out, in the front yard, I saw a group of guys smoking a bowl, and I took a couple hits, and even got a green hit! It was really good stuff, I forgot what he called it. The guy actually knows my friend Heather so I will keep in touch with him somehow. I walked home with Ryu, stoned and drunk and generally happy but tired of my high heels.
We saw lots of drunk students in costume on the way home. Ryu was commenting on how great Halloween was, he was surprised, he was taught it was a children's holiday. There was a cop standing at a frat house on my block who surprised me and made me paranoid, and I remembered that I was breaking the law. It is so ridiculous that I can't drink legally.
Anyway, I went home and Ryu kinda took care of me, I am grateful. He took all my clothes off very slowly and carefully, while I suffered in my super high, intoxicated body, he removed all my accessories, my socks, and folded everything away. I did nothing, just lay in bed. It felt nice.
It took me long enough to post about this... I heard from Heather that Miyavi was coming to Seattle, so I made plans to buy tickets. I am not a huge Miyavi fan, but I know he is really popular among J-rock fans. I think he is cute and I like his tattoos/image, but only a few of his songs. He is a skilled guitarist, and really entertaining as a one-man show, from what I can tell from his videos.
Anyway, after a bunch of drama trying to order tickets over the phone, I went downtown and bought three tickets for Heather, Shu (that girly Japanese guy), and myself. The show is on the 25th of October at the Paramount Theatre, a proper theater with fancy halls and chandeliers... not exactly a rock concert kind of place, I'd say! I am really looking forward to it, only a couple weeks from now, it is his first US tour.
In other news, the guy I mentioned in the previous post is also in my SIS class and discussion section. I will be seeing a lot of him this quarter.
I should be getting my new computer today! Hopefully, if my brother manages to intercept the UPS man. I had the computer shipped to my brother because I was not sure where I would be living. Now it is really inconvenient because my brother has to drive all the way to Seattle. Oh well, it gives me a excuse to see him!
I went to Uwajimaya yesterday and stocked up on zaru soba and chuka soba noodles. I want to make yakisoba for my brother tonight (if he shows up). I practiced yesterday and it turned out pretty good, I think he will like it. I feel like soba and udon are the only things I know how to cook. No complaints though, I could eat soba everyday!
Well I had to say goodbye to Ho Chi Minh City this morning, but it was fun while it lasted. I got to the airport on the back of a motorbike... very fun way to escape the city.
I made friends with a Japanese ojisan on the airplane to Thailand and we took a taxi into town together. He called his friend in Bangkok and told him all about me (nihongo wakaru americajin josei) while we were in the taxi. We three are planning to meet for lunch tomorrow!
I feel a little ignorant because I must admit that Bangkok is a lot more than I expected. It's huge! Skyscrapers, high-rise hotels etc. make it look more like Tokyo than I imagined... well, besides the whole slums-in-the-middle-of-development thing. I have not seen anything like it, the obvious disparity between classes here... the effects of the tourism industry... are glaring.
Met up with my friend Charles and I am at his place now. We went out to eat with his Aunt's friend's son, a 21 year old Thai guy. He was soooo friendly and polite (as far as I can tell from Charles' translation)... We went around the city, checked out tourist traps and night markets... I am going to try to get out of Bangkok tomorrow if at all possible, after having lunch with that Japanese guy.
Anyway, good night from Siam!
I got a bunch of new stuff!
Last night I gave into the UFO catchers again and won three Mario Kart plushies. A red mushroom, green koopa shell, and a sparkly super star. Sooo cute!
Today I spent a zillion yen on the Vivienne Westwood bag. I love it so much... I am just going to use it for a couple days then put it away while I am traveling through Viet Nam. It is so cool, love it!
I am ignoring phone calls like it is nobody's business. My brother is back in Tokyo but I don't know if I can see him. My sleep schedule is too inconvenient to meet day time people. Guy from the sex club wants to meet me tonight for a drive... and says he will come to the club Thursday night. Nice!
Better get ready for work. It is almost over!
I guess they aired my earthquake interview on Fuji TV today because my friend in Kyoto mailed me and said she saw me! Then I got online to check my email, and some friends on mixi also said they saw my comment! Yay! Too bad I missed it.
Planning to go to a Happening Bar on Friday night with Baldy and dragging Workaholic Hostess along. I can't wait! I have been interested in going for a while now, and it is finally becoming a reality.
Work was pretty slow yesterday. I was number 5 last week and number 6 for the month *unenthusiastic woo~* I got sent home early last night, but made a little cash at Mask afterward. The rain has stopped and it's all sunny again. I think I am going take a walk to OIOI in Shibuya and buy the Vivienne Westwood wallet I want.
Yesterday I couldn't do anything all day. I stayed at home stressing about the night ahead of me, hoping that customers would come save me. I stayed in my room and listened to the clock tick for quite a while. It was all very dramatic.
I started getting ready for work an hour ahead of normal. I didn't have anything to do! Even though I took my time, I still finished my hair and makeup too early. I sat outside and chainsmoked then walked to work.
When I got to work I talked to the manager, with a smile on my face being friendly. The first thing he said to me was, Oh, you came without a douhan? This was not the first thing I wanted to hear. I told him that I really hope these people I called would come in to request me tonight and that I really tried my best. He told me that I should have done that a long time ago, and that some hostesses do this everyday. He was being a dick for no reason. I told him that I was following his instructions and bringing in a customer as he asked of me, so what was the problem? He said that there was no guarantee that I wouldn't get fired and that he didn't want to hear my excuses. I stopped talking.
Guitar guy showed up not long after the club opened and reqested me so I was relieved, but he told me that he probably would not be able to see me again before I leave. I dunno, I can't help that. He didn't stay long, which I was glad about because Kimura showed up! I was so happy that he showed up, I had been bugging him all day about coming. He was taller than I expected and sat across the room. I was sitting with Smily guitar guy so WH sat with our new customer.
After a while I joined them. It was kinda interesting, three people who know each other from the internet in the same spot. I have gone to lots of internet meets before, but this was kind of bizarre, the circumstances and characters. Anyway, not long after, WH's friend Baldy showed up and along with Dancer girl we had a big party. Baldy sang quite well and with intensity... Dancer girl was in tears laughing at him. Overall it was quite entertaining and I was thrilled to have their company.
After the guys left, I had to sit with the Romanian girl's customer. It was sort of strange because Drunk boss told me to go sit with him before the other girl. I dunno if he requested me or what but the Romanian girl joined us shortly afterward. They were in the middle of a big fight and I tried to calm them down... But it was hopeless. I just chilled and smoked until I was told to go. The manager told me not to be late on Monday.
I went out for really, really, delicious spaghetti with WH, Dancer girl and Baldy. I got reprimanded by WH for having unsafe sex. I am so stupid, I know! I will never let it happen again. I got a condom from Baldy and I am gonna carry it around with me now. Feels weird but if I am sleeping around then I should be smart.
After the wonderful spaghetti (I am not sure if it was truly really good or if I just haven't had pasta in months, probably both) Baldy went home and we girls went to shisha and had a drink. Dancer girl really dances! As if in a music video. We left not long after.
Dancer girl went over to WH's house and I stayed in Roppongi for a while longer. Nothing interested me. I was walking home and saw some white guy standing very tourist-like, seemingly lost. I asked him if he was okay, he said yeah and that I was really kind to ask, he thought it was great. Whatever. I started walking but he came after me and asked me if I was hungry. I said no I was going home. He kept on trying to buy time with me but I kept declining. He told me he wanted to take my photo. He told me he was a photographer and he wanted to take my pictures.
I thought it was a joke but he gave me a card. The naked figure on the back of the business card made it clear what sort of photos he wanted to take. I listened to him though. I thought it was interesting. I asked him if this was the way he tried to pick up girls. The conversation lasted far too long, probably because we were both a little drunk. I started walking home.
I called the number on the card on my way and told him my name. I dunno if he will call me again. I went home and slept.
I met Akiyoshi last night. He cut his hair. He is well on his way to becoming a genuine salaryman.
We had a couple drinks at Crossover and then a shot of tequila each. Then we went to Nijyu Maru, where we drank a bottle of sake and then three 500ml bottles of wine. He can handle alcohol quite well, compared to other Japanese guys his age I have met, but I am still stronger. He got drunk and sat next to me.
He told me that he was surprised at his internet girlfriend Lisa. He went to visit her in Germany earlier this summer and he was shocked that she was a lot bigger than he thought she was. Webcams lie! She is not going to university and does not speak Japanese so he is no longer considering her a girlfriend.
In his drunkeness he admitted a few things to me. One, he had a serious foreign girl fetish. I told him he should just meet some nice Japanese office lady, not mess with crazy foreign girls. He also told me that he had been working as a host in Kabukicho earlier this summer. He had just wanted to try it for a bit but he is thinking about going back to work there until his salaryman job begins next year (he is going to be a buyer for Don Quihote).
Anyway, we both got drunk and we were going to go to a love hotel, he went and spent almost 2000 yen on condoms at the drugstore. But then I got a phonecall from this one customer, and I ditched Akiyoshi to try to make some money. Sorry dude!
I drank a more and had some food, but got no bottle. Oh well. Tonight it is back to the club and then tomorrow I am going to get my tattoo done, finally!!
Yesterday I was super bored so I put up my hair, changed my clothes, and hit the streets. Something usually happens when I am walking around the city aimlessly.
Happened quite quickly last night. I was walking toward Roppongi and a couple guys tried to talk to me. They turned out to be Canadian-born Hong Kong dudes. One was tall, fit, and extroverted, and his friend was short, bespectacled, and introverted. The former was in the Canadian military and his sidekick was an IT worker in Tokyo. They were kind of funny so I hung out with them for a bit. Until the wine bottle ran dry. Army dude asked for my number and I gave it to him.
Afterward I hung out at Bar Mask (where I have done drink back before). I took advantage of free drinks and sang some karaoke with the lonely owner. When I got bored, I went out again. As I was crossing the road, I ran into Clair's older brother. I was shocked. He told me it was his last night in Tokyo and hugged me in the middle of the intersection. Wow okay.
He told me he had been drinking with Sara, and was heading home, but now he would join me for one last drink. I told him he did not have to, his flight back to Paris was in the morning, but he insisted. We found Sara and her new boyfriend (cap-wearing street lookin dude), along with a bunch of Frenchies. We had a drink at Copacabana (I hate that place) and then split.
I went to another bar for a while and watched this cute Afghani guy play darts. I was looking for his boss but she was not there, so I left. I ran into Sara again and we had McDonalds. Why do I always end up at McDonalds when I am drinking on days off?
Anyway, I was bored again today but remember Akiyoshi? Yeah, he wants to meet me in Roppongi tonight. I am off to meet him at the spider.
